another mouth to feed

Wake me up when it starts to rain, dear

I wanna feel the water on my skin and the echo in my ear.

But let me sleep when you are leaving.

I wanna beat this dire affliction, gotta kick this wild addiction

To the heart on my prescription sitting in your chest.

I’ve got no time for conversations riddled with bold accusations

Or prizes meant for consolation for any poor souls left.

And so it goes – it’s all we know

And the water’s getting deeper every hour or so

But it takes its time – you throw me a line

But I don’t know if I should take it cause I feel… I feel fine.

Fine. I feel fine.

Plant the thought and watch it grow in me.

I will keep it watered, I don’t mind – it’s just another mouth to feed.

And call my name when you are lonely.

I’ll revel in the sound you’re making and the way your mouth is shaped

And what the hell, for heaven’s sake, I’m back to this again.

I wanna beat this dire affliction, gotta kick this wild addiction

Just floating round in this condition can’t be the way this ends.

And so it goes – it’s all we know

And the water’s getting deeper every hour or so

But it takes its time – you throw me a line

But I don’t know if I should take it cause I feel… I feel fine.

Fine. I feel fine.

Something always brings me back to you

With your eyes so… and your hands so… and your mouth so…

And your words are cradling my head – you won’t let me forget

That I’m not gonna let this go.
